The philosophy theme is an interesting one at that. This is taking place during the 50's, when ideology was at the forefront of discussion, compared to now, when people are more apt to discuss how the Kardashians and Guy Fieri are popular and thriving. Thinkers like Ryan, who try to implement their beliefs into practice usually have a tough go of it, but to see Rapture, one has to think that he did smell the sweet embrace of success.
The philosophical themes are great - Andrew Ryan's views seem to be what held Rapture together for so long.
Part of me really wishes that game had a glimpse of what Rapture was like before its fall, and I'm hoping this is what I'll get out of the Rapture DLC on Infinite.
That being said, my favourite thing about listening to the audio tapes is that it gives you the building blocks with which to form your own idea of what Rapture was like in its Utopian state.
I'm happy to say I've never heard of Guy Fieri (if you're lumping this dude in with Kim Kardashian).
