Having just seen SBG's post on backlogged games I felt like I should ask about some of the games on there which I've always wanted to play (but never got around to), as well as offer some comments on games on his list which I have played:
Shin Megami Tensei series generally: So I tried one of the PS2 games (I'll have to check which one when I get home) and I found the class segments SOOOOOO boring. I did NOT want to develop relationships with my classmates. I wanted to use that funky gun to shoot myself in the head and birth incredible monsters into the world, which is how the game was marketed to me.
The World Ends with You: Neku Sakuraba has been my avatar ever since that game came out. I LOVE that game. Highly recommend just restarting it if you're 15 hours in but don't remember where you left off (it's also on iPad)
Skyrim is a wonderful experience that you can end whenever you decide to. I think I got like 60 hours in before I thought "wow I am literally wasting my life" and decided to bring the game to an end. It was the first Bethesda game I loved (I'd tried Oblivion and Fallout, but frankly never gave them a proper chance.
Assassins Creed 3 was without a doubt the biggest turd of 2012. I truly cannot tell you how much I fucking hated that game. I should add that I loved the series before this, and even really liked Revelations, which most people seem to think is the weakest game of the series.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted - do I want to play this? I've been yearning recently for a racing game.
Tiger Woods 14 - Ironically, I just ordered this today. I need a non-stress game, particularly in light of our Bioshock playthrough.
HOW could you get 130 hours into FFXII and not finish it?! I'm pretty sure I finished it in less than half that time, and I spent a little time looking for special summons.
Pandora's Tower: I never really looked into this one, but from the youtube video I just watched (below), it looks a bit like an Alundra, which is great. Still though, there are Wii RPGs that I need to play (The Last Story and Xenoblade), which will probably trump this one.

Xenosaga episode II is a bit weak compared to the first game, but episode III has one of the most satisfying conclusions to a JRPG series in recent memory (you get a pretty awesome insight into chaos, my favourite character from those games). I really wish this game turned into the full blown Xenogears saga that it was supposed to be, with a remake of Xenogears being the 5th of the 6 games... But it was never really looking like that would be possible.
Hey I think Metroid: Other M is a game I'd like to play too, not sure why you were expecting people to rag on you for that one. Basically, like The Last Story and Xenosaga, this game came out too late in the Wii's life cycle for me to play it. I'm looking forward to buying a Wii U specifically so that I can play these 3 games + Super mario galaxy 2 (in addition to a couple actual Wii U games I suppose...
999 - is this any good? I've heard great things about the story, and I have come so close to ordering it on Amazon several times (together with Devil Trigger).
Ghost Trick is fun but frankly, more of a diversion than a real game IMO... It's more of an iPhone game than a DS game.
Finally, i'm really sad that Phoenix Wright on the 3DS doesn't seem to be coming out in Europe! (edit: it appears to be out in Europe, just not in any stores I know or Amazon!) i'm gonna have to find a way to get that. I loved the first Phoenix Wright game (but didn't really play any others, so if you recommend any in particular, let me know).
Writing this was a phenomenal waste of 30 or so minutes of my Friday afternoon. Roll on the weekend!
