So over the Christmas Break, I was in warm Miami, and with my future father-in-law's Xbox that he doesn't play, I had some time to beat both Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite.
Regarding my thoughts on Bioshock. I was disappointed. I really thought Andrew Ryan was a dynamic, interesting personality, and for him to be dispatched so I can fight a Super Shredder with a Bronx accent felt a little tame.
Additionally, the whole last 1/3 of the game where I have to become a Big Daddy felt way too overblown. At that point, I was just hoping to get all of the audio tapes to learn more about Rapture. Just goes to show how important an environment and back-story can be to the game. While it was a let-down, the overall experience of playing the game was very much positive.
Had I played the game in 2007, I think my world would have been much more overturned than playing it in 2013. I can, however, take a step back and see that this game deserves much of the acclaim it garnered. Having just finished Infinite right after Bioshock, it definitely felt like playing the exact game twice with some cosmetic changes.
